Description:

  • The Non-Traditional Peer Advocate is responsible for being able to put themselves in our student's shoes and advocate for them as necessary.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and passionately communicative.
  • Excellent service standards are crucial to our organization. Exemplify personality with a dynamic professional attitude towards our students and provide friendly service and solid student support.
  • Be confident in troubleshooting and investigating if they do not have enough information to resolve the problem.
  • Always ensure we greet and acknowledge anyone who walks through the door, calls, or emails.
  • This position is responsible for ensuring that all tasks relating to the office and the programs we offer are completed accurately and in a timely manner, and requires coordinating with various individuals and organizations both on and off campus.

Qualifications:

  • Independently organize and prioritize responsibilities with consistency and positive results.
  • Ability to be interrupted by priority items and return to previous tasks without losing focus.
  • Knowledge of the center's programs, resources, and scholarships, as well as non-traditional student needs and SUU standards.
  • Must provide mentorship and support to students and staff, demonstrate the 'SUU Way', and help ensure student success and retention.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of programs and office ideas.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
